A 21-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide over a ‘discord’ with her flatmate. She jumped into a drain in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri area, police said on Friday.
A beautician in a salon in Rohini, the woman lived with her female friend in a rented accommodation in Sultanpuri. Her friend also worked in the same salon.
“We received a call about a woman jumping into the drain on Friday. A police team rushed to the spot and found her dead,” an officer said.
According to the family members of the deceased, she had been staying with her female friend for the past four years but was disturbed for a few days allegedly due to a “discord” between them, the officer noted.
Police said the female friend of the deceased has been questioned and the statements of the eyewitnesses have been recorded.
No suicide note was recovered from the scene. The body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination.
A 17-year-old school student died after falling from the 21st floor of a residential building in the ATS Advantage Society located in Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram. The incident took place on Thursday evening when the boy went to the ATS Society to meet a friend. Police said prima facie it appears as a case of suicide, as a note was found in the boy’s pocket.
Earlier this month, a 20-year-old youth was arrested in connection with the death of a 17-year-old girl who allegedly fell off a high-rise building near Noida in a suspected case of suicide.
After the death of the girl, who worked as a house help at VVIP Homes in Noida Extension, on Tuesday, her family members and scores of domestic helpers protested outside the housing society. They alleged that she was thrown from the ninth floor by a resident there who had molested her.
