The dispute between two couples over the male child was resolved after blood tests were conducted by doctors.

Ghaziabad: A dispute between two couples over a male child born at the St Joseph hospital in Ghaziabad was resolved after a team of doctors conducted blood tests on them, a senior official said.

District Magistrate M K S Sundaram told PTI that two women, Mamata and Sudesh, gave birth to two children- a male and a female- at St Joseph hospital four days ago but both claimed that the male child was their's.

Sundaram said he ordered an investigation by a team of three doctors headed by Y C Gupta, Medical Superintendent of MMG hospital.

The team decided to conduct blood tests on the two couples as well the two infants.

According to the blood tests, the blood group of Mamata, her husband and the male child is 'O' Positive.

The blood group of Sudesh is also 'O' Positive but the group of her husband and the female child was found to be 'B' Positive.

On the basis of the blood test results, the doctors decided to hand over the male child to Mamata as the blood group of her's, her husband and the male child is the same.

Sundaram said doctors were of the opinion that it was the only way to find out the truth.

However, Sudesh said she will seek justice in a court of law.

Asked about Sudesh's protest, the DM said further tests, including DNA, will be conducted if necessary.
