Two alleged beef transporters were forced to eat a concoction containing cow dung by self-appointed "gau rakshaks" in Haryana, reports said on Tuesday.
The two men were forced to eat a concoction of cow dung, cow urine, milk, curd and ghee, called "panchgavya", by volunteers of the Gau Rakshak Dal a fortnight ago, a report in the Indian Express said.
"We intercepted a vehicle on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway after getting a tip-off. We had to chase the car for 7 km before we finally managed to stop them near the Badarpur border," Gurgaon Gau Rakshak Dal president Dharmendra Yadav was quoted as saying.
“When we caught them, they had 700 kg of beef in their car. We made them eat the panchgavya to teach them a lesson, and also to purify them,” he said.
The gau rakshaks later turned over the two men to Faridabad police. Police have confirmed that the two - Rizwan and Mukhtiyar - were arrested on June 10.
The report also mentioned a video in which the two could be seen eating the panch gavya, but there was no official word on this.
