New Delhi: Despite opposition from the power distribution companies, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced that the auditing of these discoms would commence on Thursday.
During a press conference in the evening, Kejriwal informed, "Delhi government will start audit of power companies from tomorrow. This will take place after getting a go ahead from Lt Governor for audit."
The Delhi power discoms had earlier in the day met Power Ministry officials and expressed their opposition to the Kejriwal government's move to seek an audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General. They insisted that the matter was still sub-judice.
Kejriwal reacted to this, saying that there was no sufficient reason as to why there should not be any audit.
Speaking on the time frame of the auditing, he said, "CAG has not given any time frame. And also, CAG yesterday told us that it also depends on co-operation from power companies."
Taking a dig at the previous government led by three-time CM Sheila Dikshit, Kejriwal said, "The last govt could not achieve in 4 years, we achieved in 4 days." Congress was misleading the people, he added.
On Tuesday, the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi had announced a cut in electricity tariff by a massive 50 per cent.
