Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government on Monday sought financial assistance from the World Bank for development projects in different sectors. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy held talks with a high-level World Bank delegation led by its Operations Adviser Hubert Nove Josserand in Hyderabad.

He wanted the US-based international financial institution to fund a clutch of projects. These are AP Rural Poverty Reduction Programme Phase-3, Tank-Reliant Irrigated Area Development project, Post-Flood Project, AP MEPMA project for support to urban self-help groups and Health Systems Strengthening Project, an official release said.

The Chief Minister's Office, in the release, said the State was currently implementing six World Bank-assisted projects with a total outlay of Rs 11,230 crore of which the bank's share was Rs 6,613 crore.

It, however, did not specify the quantum of funds the government has sought from the World Bank for the new schemes.

Joint Secretary in Union Department of Economic Affairs Venu Rajamani, World Bank AP Coordinator Rajini Khanna and other officials were part of the delegation that met the Chief Minister.
