BANGALORE: Just two days after serial blasts rocked Mumbai, two single barrel guns were found abandoned at the BMTC bus station where lakhs of people commute daily. Though the police have found and seized them, it has raised the question of what measures the police have taken to keep a check in these areas. The Upparpet police claim that the guns were found when they were conducting checks in BMTC and KSRTC bus stations on Friday evening in the wake of the Mumbai blasts on Wednesday. During the search, the police found two bags abandoned in the 19F platform in BMTC bus station. Growing suspicious about the bags, the bomb disposal squad and sniffer squads were pressed into service. Later, two single barrel guns and 14 cartridges were found in those bags, the police said."The guns belonged to Yogindar Singh and Lal Babu Singh, both natives of Bhojpur district in Bihar. Their identity cards were found in the bags and they even have license to possess the guns. However, Yogindar's gun license had expired in 2008 while Lal Babu's license is valid till 2012. It is suspected that they abandoned the arms fearing that they would be arrested as the license had expired," the police added. The application forms of Guardwell Detectives Private Limited, which is located in Basaveshwaranagar, was also found in the bag. The police suspect that the duo had come to the city to join as security guards with Guardwell Detectives.Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Siddaramappa said that the police were put on high alert in the area as lakhs of people come to the area every day. However, he did not give a clear answer to the question that what was the police doing to restrict the entry of people, who carry arms with them. "After Metro works have started, there are six entries to the BMTC bus station. Though we check everybody in the main entrance, it is difficult to check each and everyone who enters from other entrances," he explained.
