New Delhi: Dmitri Berbatov's days at Manchester United are numbered. The Bulgarian has struggled to make an impact since his 30.75 million pound switch from Spurs in September 2008. And his performance in the loss to Chelsea and in the game against Blackburn have been the final straw for many fans.

According to British tabloid The Sun, Manchester United are ready to take a massive hit on Berbatov and dump him at the end of the season. Even manager Alex Ferguson seems to have lost faith in the club's record signing.

In fact, Ferguson had opted to play a half-fit Wayne Rooney ahead of Berbatov against Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

The paper said that with United's title bid all but over Ferguson is looking ahead to the next season. First on his list is Karim Benzema, who will be back on the market this summer after a poor season at Real Madrid.

Benzema could move to United for the originally offered price of 25 million Pounds, which had been topped by Real who stepped in with 35 million Pounds.
