The announcement of The Crew starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon gave rise to a whole lot of intrigue and excitement among fans. This is the first time that the trio is coming together for a film that will be produced by Rhea Kapoor, who has carved a niche for herself with her women-driven narratives. Also starring Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma, The Crew is set against the backdrop of the airline industry and revolves around three women who hustle to make it in life.
The first schedule of the film kick-started in March this year. The film was shot in Mumbai, Goa and Abu Dhabi and as per reports, the makers were planning on wrapping the outdoor in June. And now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Rhea shares an update on the film and assures that the film will release on its scheduled date even though a bit of shoot is still pending. “The Crew is almost done. 90 percent of it has already been shot. We’ve a little more shooting to do and it will land on March 22 next year,” she states.
According to Rhea, The Crew is ‘the most ambitious film’ she has ever made. Prod her further and she tells us, “And that’s not just in terms of the casting. When you work with Tabu and Kareena, there’s this sense of ease. They do everything with so much effortlessness. They’re so professional and freaking good.”
However, there’s one thing that has surprised and impressed Rhea the most. “And the most important thing is that they’re good comedians. That was just a treat to watch on the set. I’ve never experienced this kind of ease in performance and work before, especially when there are multiple actors on set. Working with Diljit was also awesome,” remarks the Veere Di Wedding and Khoobsurat producer.
While Rhea remains tight-lipped about her other projects, she hints at collaborating with her Thank You For Coming actors soon. Addressing the complaints of many fans who wanted to see more of Kusha Kapil and Shehnaaz Gill in the Bhumi Pednekar starrer, she says, “It’s a good sign that both their characters leave you wanting for more. They’re such distinct and special characters and both of them are so funny. They added so much to the film.”
She further continues, “The thing is once I work with an actress and form a connection, I find myself working with them over and over again. I’m so fond of both Shehnaaz and Kusha. Not to worry, they’ll be doing a lot more work in my films.”
