World Cup title holders England will be facing five-time champions of the competition Australia at the 2023 edition of the tournament. England is having a terrible campaign in India with just a single win to show for in the seven matches they have played.
They started with a humiliating nine-wicket loss against last year’s finalists New Zealand. They won their next game against Bangladesh before recording successive losses against Afghanistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and India.
They were humiliated by 100 runs in their last match against the hosts. Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah had combined for seven wickets on the day to secure the victory for their side.
The Englishmen are likely not going to make the knockout phase of the tournament but they could save some skin by winning their last few games, starting with Australia.
The two cricket giants will be taking each other on at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on November 4. Australia also had a slow start in the tournament as they lost their first two games to India and South Africa. They got back to winning ways since taking down Sri Lanka. They have now managed to take down teams including New Zealand, Pakistan and the Netherlands at the World Cup. It would be interesting to see if they can continue their good form against the English side.
