Three Indian-Origin Students Killed, Two Injured in Georgia Car Crash
Local news media outlets reported that the wider Alpharetta community was shaken following the news of the deaths of the Indian-origin students.

Three American students of Indian-origin were killed and two others injured in a car accident in Alpharetta, a city in the US state of Georgia.

The victims, all 18 years old, included two women. The accident took place on May 14 on Westside Parkway, which lies north of Maxwell Road in Alpharetta, Georgia.

According to Alpharetta Police, speeding was likely the main cause of the tragic crash, which resulted in the car overturning. The five teenagers were students of Alpharetta High School and the University of Georgia. They were identified as Aryan Joshi, a senior at Alpharetta High School, Sriya Avasarala and Anvi Sharma, both first-year students at the University of Georgia.

Those injured were identified as Rithwak Somepalli, a Georgia State University student and the driver of the Honda Accord involved in the crash and Mohammed Liyakath, a senior at Alpharetta High School.

Cops said the driver lost control of the vehicle and it ended upside down in a tree line. Aryan Joshi and Sriya Avasarala were found dead at the scene. Anvi Sharma, succumbed to her injuries at North Fulton Hospital.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in a report said that Avasarala was a member of the UGA Shikaari dance team while Sharma was a singer in a music group called UGA Kalakaar. Joshi was a senior at Alpharetta High School and a member of the school’s cricket team.

Earlier in April, three women, all hailing from Gujarat’s Anand, lost their lives in a fatal car crash in the US state of South Carolina. Rekhaben Patel, Sangitaben Patel, and Manishaben Patel, the victims, died when their speeding SUV swerved off the road, launched itself at least 20 feet into the air and collided with a bunch of trees on the opposite side of of the highway, after jumping across all lanes in Greenville County.

The three women have been living in the US state of Georgia, they further added.
