Watch: Why You Should Never Mess With A Snake
Watch: Why You Should Never Mess With A Snake
The red-tailed boa constrictors are non-venomous but their bite is still very painful.

One should not play around with snakes. Not only because snakes can be venomous and poisonous but also because they are solitary creatures that get very defensive when held callously. Snake wrangles have to go through intensive practice and training to carefully handle and relocate snakes or pythons. However, now a video on X is raking in views, as it shows a man mishandling a snake and getting a painful bite in return. The undated video shows a man first teasing a large snake with his feet, once the snake moves, he picks up the snake by its tail.

The snake hisses at the man but he remains unfazed. At one point the man brings the snake closer to the person who is recording this video. By the end of the video, the snake turns around and bites the man, who drops the snake and yelps in pain. It appears that the snake in the video is a non-venomous pet snake, which is probably why the man was casual about handling the snake with his bare hands. This video was also taken on the lawn of a house, which further hints that the snake might have been a pet.

The video was posted on X by a popular account called More Crazy Clips. So far it has over 1.6 million views since it was posted on March 25. Commenting on it, an X user wrote, “This is a non-venomous red-tailed boa constrictor. They’re commonly kept in the pet trade, and their bites are non-fatal, but still extremely painful. It’s best not to handle a snake in a defensive posture like this one without special equipment, even if they’re non-venomous.”

Another person wrote, “Dude learns the hard way after playing with a snake that it’s not a toy, ending up in a dangerous situation he never expected.’

An X user described the bite of a boa constrictor and wrote, “Those teeth are basically needles. It’s not *fun* getting poked by a handful of needles in the hand/arm, but neither is it dangerous. Memorable experience, though!”

A few people played down the gravity of the video and noted that being bitten by non-venomous pet snakes is not a big deal.

Expressing this sentiment, an X user wrote, “It’s not that bad. No venom, worst-case scenario he gets a nasty bruise.”
