Unable To Find Love After 20 Blind Dates, Chinese Man Opens Matchmaking Business

Who said that if you don’t find love for yourself, you don’t find love for others? A Chinese man proved exactly this, after going on 20 blind dates and ended up becoming a matchmaker who has to date, helped 346 couples.

Zhou Shipeng, a 34-year-old resident of Hebei province in northern China went on as many as 20 blind dates in 2016, after his parents pressured him to get married. But, when he found himself unable to meet his match, instead of looking hard to find a suitor for himself, he became a successful matchmaker who has helped other couples find love in the last seven years.

It was in 2017 when Zhou Shipeng started to visit his local matchmaking area to find that the majority of the advertisers were grandparents or parents seeking out partners for their loved ones. It is important to note that this is quite a common practice in China. As Zhou Shipeng visited this place more, he realised that he could step in as the middleman.

Zhou Shipeng recorded the parents’ desires for their future in-laws like profession, height or even dating history. He started to look up to such people who matched up to the expectations of his clients. Soon, he helped his first couple to find love. The South China Morning Post quoted him saying, “The happiness I felt then was more than if I were getting married.”

This one successful attempt further motivated him to continue with his work. He was determined to help more and more people find love and by April 2018, he was a full-time matchmaker.

While finding love for others, quite magically, he also found a match for himself. As per reports, his wife had come to find a suitor for herself. They discovered that they had great chemistry and began dating. They took their nuptial vows. Now, they have a daughter.

Normally, in China, the matchmakers are middle-aged men or elderly women. Zhou Shipeng was successful because he was young and he made genuine efforts to understand every person and their needs and help them find a suitable partner. Till now, he has helped 346 couples to find love.
