Russia and Siberia, known for their vast and forested areas, are particularly vulnerable to wildfires due to multiple factors. For the past few days, a massive wildfire has been burning in the forest areas near the world’s deepest lake, Lake Baikal. Amid the ongoing wildfire, a video has been surfacing on the internet where a person seated in the driver’s cabin captured the forest engulfed in flames. The clip showcases the horrific sights of the wildfire destroying the vegetation and animal life in the forest area. Many people have raised questions regarding the intense flames and expressed their views in the comment section of the viral clip.
According to a report by The Metro, the massive wildfire incident reportedly started in the mountainous Muysky district of Siberia. This region has been facing wildfires for years. A video was uploaded on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) that showcased the surrounding landscape engulfed in flames as they appeared to lap at the train’s exterior. The forest was covered with burning fire as the train passed through it. The clip was captioned, “In Russian Buryatia, a train was filmed from the driver’s cab as it rushes through a forest fire. Forest fires have been burning in the republic for several days. The total area covered by the fire is 30,686 hectares. In the past 24 hours, six new fires were discovered. Trains, apparently, can travel.”
Once the clip was uploaded, many people went to the comment section to express their views regarding the burning forest. One of the users wrote, “The heat from the fires is going to cause the track to buckle.” Another user sarcastically commented, “Wonderful. More wildlife suffering, more carbon in the air.”
So far, the clip has amassed 172,400 views on X.

Russia’s effort to control the wildfire has been questioned, as some people have claimed that emergency teams have been deployed for the war against Ukraine. This has resulted in a delay and a shortage of firefighting officers in Russia. Authorities in the area have banned entry into the Buryatia region from nearby areas. It has also been predicted that June will lead to more cases of wildfire in Russia.
