Remember Bunny and Naina from ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani‘ by Ayan Mukerji? When the movie was released in 2013, many of you must have rocked the dance with ‘Badtameez Dil‘ while falling in love with Ranbir Kapoor. Several cake artists have taken cake decoration to levels that are beyond our imagination. Recently, a pastry chef has been winning hearts on Instagram through her detailed Bollywood-themed cakes. She posted an Instagram reel of a cake with a ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani‘ (YJHD) theme. This viral cake has clocked a million views on Instagram.
In the viral video, the artist can be seen decorating a rectangular cake covered in white frosting with buttercream in various colours. She starts by making mountains and snow on it to refer to the Manali trek in the first half of the film. Next, she crafts a beautiful structure from Udaipur, where Aditi’s destination wedding takes place in the second half of the movie. She also sketches a train on one side in the background and makes it look like it is reaching the mountains. Next, she creates holi colours, referring to the popular song sequence ‘Balam Pichkari’ from the movie. Another popular reference from the film on the cake is a bowl of dal and a plate of rice, reminding fans of Bunny’s dialogue, “Shaadi is dal chawal for 50 saal (years) till you die.”
The artist draws the four main characters (Bunny, Naina, Aditi, Avi) in the same way they pose for a picture in the snow-decked hills of Manali. To make the illustrations more interesting, the chef adds alcohol bottles and poker chips on Avi’s side and books, and a cute bunny on Naina’s side. This video was posted on an Instagram account named @essange. Sharing the post, the user wrote, “YJHD on a cake.”
