A Pakistani YouTuber recently found herself targeted by moral policing from a man, who made absurd demands regarding her attire. In a video circulating widely on social media, the man was seen instructing the woman to cover her head. In his words, she had committed a “crime” by standing in front of him without wrapping her head with a shawl or scarf. His criticism of how a woman should dress up did not end there. He then removed his scarf and tried to wrap it around the YouTuber’s head.
The video, dropped on X (formerly Twitter) by a local news portal in Pakistan, has garnered thousands of views. In the clip, the woman can be heard asking the man in Urdu, “What crime did I commit?”. In his reply, the man said, “The very first crime you have committed is that you are standing in front of me in Islam and your head is not covered by a dupatta.”
When the man attempted to wrap a black shawl around her head, she vehemently opposed the unwanted gesture. Condemning the act, the YouTuber asked: “Why do Islamic beliefs and morals always come down to wearing a dupatta?” Returning the shawl, she asserted having her own headscarf and claimed it was her “decision” on whether she wanted to cover her head.

Further into the video when the man refused to admit he did anything wrong, the woman pointed out that he was the one who committed a crime by “touching” her without consent. “You are not in my blood relation. So why did you touch me without my permission? Is this what Islam teaches you?” she questioned.
The woman warned the man that he could be arrested for his behaviour on the grounds of “social harassment”. Despite the heated verbal exchange, the man was stuck to his point.
Social media users who stumbled upon the video came in unison to support the woman, voicing their protest against the man.
