Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan boasts a breathtaking landscape, offering an idyllic environment for observing a diverse range of birds and animals. Renowned as one of the initial Project Tiger reserves, Ranthambore holds its status as one of India’s premier destinations for tiger sightings. Recently, a video capturing the remarkable sight of a renowned tigress named Riddhi along with her three cubs, hunting a crocodile in Ranthambore National Park and Tiger Reserve went viral.

According to national park officials, the crocodile was killed on April 14 in Zone 3 of the area. On April 15, the national park supervisors uploaded a video of the tigers chowing down on a crocodile on Instagram. When it first opens, we see two tigers eating the hunted reptile while lying next to it. With their keen teeth, the two tigers tore off the crocodile’s flesh, which was a unique sight to witness.

“Ranthambhore’s famous tigress Riddhi and her three cubs hunted a crocodile in zone 3 on Sunday, April 14, 2024,” read the caption accompanying the post.

The video accumulated over 26,000 views on the social media platform.

A user wrote, “Only Machli’s lineage has the courage to bring this gourmet meal to their cubs.”

According to Free Press Journal, Riddhi’s grandma has previously killed a 14-foot-long crocodile. Another user said, “This is the first time we’re seeing tigers feeding on a crocodile.”

“Legacy of Machli continued,” another user said.

Previously, Tigress Riddhi and her cubs were seen having a fun time. The video shows the mother tigress swimming in the water alongside her cub, who appears to be quite excited and eager to follow her mother. Two additional cubs can be seen joining the scene later in the video and approaching their mother.

The caption accompanying the post read, “Family Splash Time: Tigress Riddhi and Cubs Cooling Off in the Water Pit.”

The territory where Riddhi is frequently observed roaming was once dominated by its great-grandmother, Machli. After four generations of tigresses, Riddhi was born, and her demeanour and capabilities have since been compared to Machli.
