Snakes are among the most intriguing and yet feared creatures. Many videos featuring these reptiles have surfaced online, leaving users both stunned and fascinated. The latest viral sensation is a vine snake, renowned for its stealth appearance. The Green Vine Snake, also known as the Common Vine Snake, is the most widespread species of the Ahaetulla genus in India, particularly in the Western Ghats and other parts of peninsular and northern India.

This snake can be easily identified by its slender, elongated body, green dorsal colour and distinctive leaf or arrow-like head with very a sharply pointed snout.

The viral footage, shared by wildlife photographer Ishan Shanavas on Instagram, shows a vine snake beautifully camouflaged in its surroundings. In the video, Shanavas begins with, “So here I have one of the most camouflaged and beautiful snakes of the Western Ghats. This is my personal favourite.” As the camera pans over the dense green foliage, Shanavas adds, “If you look from afar, you might not be able to see anything. But if you look closely, zoom in and then you will be able to see a beautiful green vine snake just perched very carefully on that plant.”

“Vine snakes are some of the coolest snakes in India. They are a personal favourite, and this video should show you why. I mean, look at that camouflage! Thanks to Daimler for spotting this and filming this video!” Shanavas wrote in the caption.
