A court hearing was recently held for a British couple who was kicked off an EasyJet flight in March this year due to an obscene act. Bradley Smith, 22, and Antonia Sullivan, 20, were returning to Bristol from a vacation in Tenerife, Spain when numerous passengers on their EasyJet flight complained about their unacceptable behaviour to the flight crew. Bradley and Antonia are both from Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales.
Bradley Smith was seated in seat 16A and Antonia Sullivan, his girlfriend, was seated in seat 16B on the 7 am flight. According to The Sun, three people, including their fellow passenger in seat 16C, witnessed their act. The couple was also noticed by a mother and daughter duo seated in the row behind them.
Minutes after the plane took off from Spain, witnesses claimed that Bradley Smith requested Antonia Sullivan to engage in sexual activity. After that, the couple covered Bradley’s lap with some clothes and started their explicit act in the crowded aircraft.
“After a few minutes the witness was aware that the couple had re-arranged some coats over Smith’s lap and there followed vigorous hand movements beneath the coat,” Maree Doyle, the prosecutor, told the Bristol magistrates’ court quoted by The Sun. “The witness sitting next to them could see what was happening while a mother and teenage daughter sitting behind the couple could also see what was going on,” the prosecutor added.
When the enraged mother complained to the cabin crew, Antonia argued that she was merely stroking her boyfriend’s leg. The duo was later escorted off the plane by authorities for interrogation.
Earlier this week in court, Bradley and Antonia entered guilty pleas to one count of outraging public decency by engaging in sexual activity in a public setting. They have been directed to provide compensation to each of the three witnesses for 100 GBP (roughly Rs 11,000). Bradley was also mandated to complete 300 hours of community service, whereas Antonia was required to complete 270 hours.
Reportedly, the pair was scolded by Judge Lynne Matthews for their explicit behaviour in public.
