The results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 were announced on Tuesday after a lengthy six-week, seven-phase voting process. The opposition coalition INDIA received 232 seats, while the BJP-led NDA secured 292 seats, marking victory. While everyone’s attention is focused on the Indian elections, several amusing events occurred. Pakistani singer Ali Sethi posted a photo on Tuesday taken from an Indian news channel that was covering the Lok Sabha election results. The uploaded picture displayed what looked like an AI-generated photo to represent “other” candidates. The picture had an uncanny resemblance to the singer.
The similarity is remarkable, so even Ali Sethi couldn’t resist responding to his doppelganger candidature in the Indian elections. Sethi stated, “Apparently I lost some votes in India,” as the caption for a photo.
The post garnered immense attention from his fan base and was flooded with numerous comments. The post has more than 36,000 views on the social media platform.
A user wrote, “Now that your Indian citizenship can be proved, when are we having a concert in New Delhi?”
Another user said, “Ali, I would have voted for you.”
A third user stated, “Certainly in India, you’re never gonna lose.”
Yet another user humorously stated, “Abki baar, Sethi sarkar.”
The majority of commenters expressed their support for Sethi, stating that he already rules over the hearts of Indians.
Since the Uri incident in 2016, Pakistani artists have faced an unofficial blanket ban from performing in India.
A plea to prohibit Pakistani performers and artists from working in India in 2023 was officially denied by the Bombay High Court.
Meanwhile, Pakistani media outlets have been keenly monitoring the Indian Lok Sabha elections.
In an editorial, Dawn stated, “Once the dust settles in Delhi and the BJP forms the next government, we hope that Narendra Modi reviews his foreign policy.”
