39-year-old Colombian Woman, Pregnant With 20th Child, Calls Motherhood 'Business Opportunity'

A 39-year-old woman in Colombia who is already a mother of 19 children is set to welcome her 20th child in this world. In her recent interaction with the media, 39-year-old Martha revealed that she doesn’t plan on stopping giving birth to children and sees motherhood as a business opportunity.

Martha from Medellin, Colombia receives financial assistance from the Colombian government for each child. 17 members of this giant family are under 18 years old and they live in a small three-bedroom apartment. “The truth is, as the government helps me for each child, I receive a little money for each one,” she explained while interacting with the Daily Mail.

Every month, the Government of Colombia gives around Rs 42,000 to Martha. She also receives help from the local church and neighbours. However, the money she receives barely covers the cost of raising and caring for all of them. Living in a cranked-up apartment, Martha is unable to feed all the children a full meal.

Martha said that she gets around Rs 6,300 for the eldest child and Rs 2,500 for the youngest. Due to a strict budget and low source of income, she is unable to provide the bare minimum facilities to her children. She revealed that her life in a three-bedroom apartment with all her children is quite challenging. Apart from the full meal, there is also not enough space in the house for all to sleep comfortably.

Eying motherhood as a business opportunity, Martha admitted that she will continue having children until her body doesn’t allow it. “I see being a mom like a business, practically,” says Martha, as quoted in the report of Daily Mail.

Similarly, it has been reported that a woman in Russia who loves embracing motherhood aims to take the count of her children to over 100. The 26-year-old woman named Christina Ozturk who lives in Georgia, Russia is currently a mother of 22 children. With the aim set high, it has also been reported that her first child, who is 9 years old, was the only one who was conceived naturally while the others were done through surrogacy. The couple admitted that they are planning to have 105 children in their family.
