Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai Actress Swati Chitnis Shoots Last Episode With Pranali Rathod
Swati Chitnis, who plays the role of Mimi or the great-grandmother, in the Goenka family, has shot for her last episode. The actress opened up about quitting the show after 7 years.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is touted as one of the longest-running shows on Indian television and, for years, has kept the viewers hooked with this interesting plotline. Soon, the makers have planned to introduce the fourth generation leap on the show, and the audience is on the edge to see what new twist they might witness on the show. The current track revolves around the lives of two families: Goenkas and Birlas. Harshad Chopda and Pranali Rathod are leading the show and will soon bid farewell along with many other cast members. Swati Chitnis, who plays the role of Mimi, or the great-grandmother, in the Goenka family, has shot for her last episode. The actress opened up about quitting the show after her long association.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Swati Chitnis expressed, “It was quite an emotional moment for me. I’ve been associated with the show for seven long years. It had to be emotional, however, I tried to not express my emotions that much (laughs). I am so glad to have my last scene with Akshu (Pranali Rathod). It was just me and Pranali in the scene and it came out beautifully. Pranali is a darling. She is like my real granddaughter. I adore her a lot.”

The actress said that she is very grateful to the producer Rajan Shahi for all the admiration she received so far. She shared that the producer called her before he went to shoot for her last scene and “he appreciated my work and stated that the team would miss me. It was such a beautiful gesture. It has been seven unforgettable years of my life.”

Reportedly, some of the members of the Goenka family will stay on as the leap unfolds. On not being retained further on the show, Swati Chitnis said, “Well, isn’t it too much for a Dadi to be in the show for so long? (laughs). Initially, the character was so important. It was always about Dadi, Karthik, and Naira. I feel the character has been quite utilized on the show. As they say, every good thing comes to an end, one should accept it and move on.” The actress added that she has not fully come to terms with the fact that she is not a part of the show anymore. But she added, “ I have no qualms and have the highest regard for the makers of the show.”

The makers have roped in Samridhii Shukla to play the role of Akshara’s daughter Abhira in the fourth generation.
