Colors TV is often helmed for presenting some riveting stories focusing on social issues with stellar performances. The channel, along with Shashi Sumeet Productions is all set to launch a new show featuring Shruti Choudhary and Meet fame Shagun Pandey. The daily soap is titled Mera Balam Thanedaar. The story revolves around the topic of underage marriage, and is set in Rajasthan. Shruti Choudhary is cast to play the role of Bulbul, while Shagun Pandey will essay the role of Veer.
As per the promo, Bulbul is a young woman who supports white lies in order to benefit others. Veer, on the other hand, is an IPS officer who reportedly regards deception as a major offence. Amid other things, Bulbul is unaware that her parents have deceived her about her true age, and she unknowingly marries Veer, while being underage. The plot will concentrate on how these two people come to terms with their differences.

Speaking about the new show, Shagun Pandey told India Today, “Mera Balam Thanedaar marks my second endeavour with Colors, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.” He further spoke about his character on the show and said, “I will bring to life the character of our show’s hero, an honest and principled IPS officer who hates lies! My character embodies the traits that have never been seen on television. Our destinies will intervene in unusual circumstances leading to both of us getting married. This story explores the journey of two very distinctive personalities falling in love.”
Shagun rose to fame with his portrayal of Meet Ahlawat in the Zee TV show Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet opposite Ashi Singh. He has also appeared in shows like Swaraj, Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye, Tujhse Hai Raabta.
Etimes reported Shruti Choudhary as saying, “I’m eagerly waiting for this new show on the channel where I am set to take on the lead role for the very first time.” She added that she was confident that the new show would captivate the audience and also provide a fresh love story on screen. Speaking of her character, she mentioned, “In this upcoming show, I step into the shoes of Bulbul, a bubbly young girl known for lying and getting away with it for a good cause.” Lastly, the actress hoped that the viewers would like her pairing with Shagun Pandey.
