New Delhi: Twitter has teamed up with Foursquare which is a local search and discovery service to allow users to tag locations in their tweets.
Announcing the feature through a tweet, the company explained how location tagging will work in iOS. Earlier users were able to include locations based on their device's sensors and assigning a spot based on parameters.
However, with the new feature, users will be able to tap the location button to get a list of nearby suggested places so that they can identify the specific spot.
A report in TechCrunch stated that the microblogging site was rumoured to be in talks with Foursquare late last year for bringing geolocation services to its platform.
Tweets with location tags could boost ads on Twitter and help new users better manage their timelines with relevant tweets.
