New Delhi: After hiring staff from Homejoy, a startup that focused on pairing house cleaners with apartment-dwellers and homeowners; it seems Google is geared up to enter the home services market.
Google has confirmed that it has hired 20 employees from the startup. Earlier reports have indicated that the search giant was working on a service that would connect local plumbers, cleaners, painters, and other workers with home owners.
A report on The Verge notes that the expertise of these hires, who largely represent Homejoy’s product and engineering teams, could help Google build a new service that could be clubbed with its search engine and show information when a related search query is made.
Google already offers services which let you compare prices for flights, hotels, and car insurance when you make a related search.
Homejoy was launched in 2012 as a website designed to make it easier for people to find and schedule house cleanings from verified cleaners.
