Facebook finally allows GIFs in ads, Page posts
Facebook has eventually decided to relax its standards and started to allow businesses to post GIFs as ads and Page posts.

New Delhi: It took quite a while for the world’s biggest social network to understand the simple joy users get from the short animated clips or GIFs, but they are finally here; this time for ads on the site.

Facebook has eventually decided to relax its standards and started to allow businesses to post GIFs as ads and Page posts.

A report on Tech Crunch notes that GIFs can’t go in the tiny sidebar ads which Facebook is phasing out, only ‘Boosted’ Page posts, which make up most of the ads you see in your feed will be supported.

GIFs in user posts were first supported in May but businesses were still not allowed to use them. However, the company has now decided to test the potential of these animated clips and evaluate if they drive a great experience for people before rolling it out to more Pages.

Currently, Wendy’s and Coca-Cola’s Brazilian brand Kuat are the first businesses with the ability to share GIFs.

If Facebook gives a complete thumbs up to the feature, we might as well see our News Feed flooded with animated clips.

What's your reaction?
