Man Alleges CEO Humiliated Him In Interview: ‘You've Accomplished Nothing’
Jin shared the LinkedIn post “to raise awareness of the unprofessional and demeaning behaviour” of the CEO, and it has garnered nearly 2500 likes and 100 comments.

Peiyuan Jin, a software engineer intern from the US state of Illinois, has his “WORST interview experience" with the CEO of a crypto company. The candidate, who was applying for a Quant Developer position, said he cleared three rounds but had a shocking time during the final interview with the CEO, who continuously interrupted and humiliated him. Jin shared a LinkedIn post “to raise awareness of the unprofessional and demeaning behaviour", and it has garnered nearly 2500 likes and 100 comments.

According to his LinkedIn post, the CEO of crypto company Trade Terminal Yao Meng repeatedly interrupted him during the 7-minute interview, mocked his past work experience, and criticised him for not having big ambitions. As per his post, the interview ended with Meng telling Jin, “I’m a billionaire because I think big, but look at you—you’ve accomplished nothing."

Recounting the shocking events, Jin wrote, “Shout out to Trade Terminal for giving me the WORST interview experience for the Quant Developer Intern position, Fourth Round, with interviewer Yao Meng. From the start, as I began my self-introduction, he interrupted me to mock my experience as a software engineer at John Deere, expressing disbelief that a tractor company would even need software services.

“When I started discussing the projects I worked on at John Deere, he repeatedly interrupted. He then belittled me for not ‘thinking big’ for the company and boasted that, as an intern, he once persuaded his manager to quit and join him in a crypto venture," he said.

“The interview, which lasted only 7 minutes, ended with him humiliating me by saying, ‘I’m a billionaire because I think big, but you’ve accomplished nothing’," he concluded.

Several users have reacted to Jin’s post and complimented him for his courage to call out influential people.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “You got saved from a future toxic work environment."

Mocking the CEO, another asked, “Why is he just a billionaire when he could be the first trillionaire? Is he thinking too small?"

“I love that you have the courage and the guts to call them out. Many of my peers would have put their heads down and walked away without a call-out. A younger me probably would also have just walked away. I’m so proud that there are more people like you who are out there changing the status quo," a comment read.

Another mentioned, “I had a bad experience with them last year too. They gave me a leet code question to solve while sharing my screen. When I finished in 12 minutes, the interviewer said, ‘Well you solved it but we’ve had someone solve it before in 6 minutes.’ I was speechless."

One more added, “Lol wow that sounds like a terrible interview, you probably dodged a bullet."

Jin further shared he was not posting this incident to vent out his feelings but to raise awareness of the unprofessional and demeaning behaviour that can occur during interviews. He hopes that no candidate has to endure what he did and that companies take responsibility for making their interview processes fair, respectful, and professional
