The Asus Zenfone 2 will come to India in three four variants, says Asus. According to Asus, the phone will have "the world's best Back Light (HDR) mode and fast charging technology - 60 per cent capacity in only 39 minutes."
While we have the top-tier variant with us, what everyone is waiting for is the pricing and the specifications of the variants. We expect top model to be priced about Rs 20,000. (Read our first impressions review of the Asus Zenfone 2)
The phone is already listed on Flipkart but is obviously not yet up for sale.
The launch of the Zenfone 2 will put it in direct competition with the likes of Xiaomi Mi 4, OnePlus One. It is noteworthy that the Xiaomi Mi 4 just got a price cut of Rs 2,000 and the Chinese company is also expected to unveil to the world the Xiaomi Mi 4i at an event in New Delhi today.
With the Zenfone 2, the company also appears to punch above its weight and intends to take on the likes of Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung's recently launched Galaxy S6, S6 Edge. "Asus to yet again disrupt the Indian Smartphone market soon with Zenfone 2. Taking on Samsung S6 and Apple's recent launches, the device features 2.3GHz Intel Atom processor with 4GB RAM," Asus said in a teaser note.
The phone was first unveiled at CES 2015 and features an all-new design, 13-megapixel PixelMaster camera, and a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor with 4GB RAM. (Asus Zenfone 2: Photos taken with Asus' upcoming flagship phone. No effects. No filters)
The phone has a brushed-metal finish and concentric-circle detailing. It has a curved case that tapers to an incredibly thin 3.9 mm at the edges. It comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS+ screen with an ultra-narrow bezel that reduces ZenFone 2's overall size.
According to Asus, its 3000mAh battery provides more than enough power to get through the day, and it also features fast-charge technology for dramatically-reduced recharge times.
Apart from the Zenfone 2, the company will also launch a 10000mAh power bank and two other mobile accessories at its April 23 event. While the company has kept under wraps what the two other accessories could be, we assume one of them to be a pair of earphones.####
