'Won't Spare Anyone, No Matter How...': CM Shinde Talks Tough After High-Profile 'Hit and Run' Cases
The statement said that those people who are involved in hit and run cases would face consequences irrespective of their wealth or political connections

The office of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday issued a stern statement regarding ‘hit and run’ cases in the state, asserting that those involved in these criminal activities would face consequences irrespective of their wealth or political connections.

“Chief Minister Shri said that whoever is guilty in these cases, no matter how rich, influential, or bureaucrat, children of people’s representatives and any party, they will not be supported,” Shinde’s office shared in a social media post on ‘X’.

The post further said that the Maharashtra Chief Minister has “directed strict action against perpetrators of ‘hit and run’ incidents in Maharashtra, ensuring no one is spared.”

Shinde’s statement follows a series of high-profile hit-and-run cases making headlines in the state, notably the Pune Porsche crash in May that led to the deaths of two techies, caused by a 17-year-old driver and sparking nationwide outrage.

The case hit national headlines after the boy was given bail by the Juvenile Justice Board on lenient terms and the Pune police uncovered an effort allegedly involving the accused’s parents and doctors of Sassoon Hospital to switch blood samples to nullify alcohol tests and also force the family driver take blame for the crash.

In another incident on Sunday, a 45-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run in Worli, allegedly by a BMW driven by the son of a Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader.

The accused, Mihir Shah, has been named, and a lookout notice was issued against him on Monday. CCTV footage shows Shah leaving a bar with friends shortly before the incident, though it’s unclear if the car seen in the footage is the BMW involved in the fatal collision.
