Apple postpones production of its 12.9-inch iPad over display supply hitch; expected to begin in September: Report

New Delhi: Apple is said to delay the production of its speculated 12.9-inch iPad until September due to issues around the supply of display panels.

A Bloomberg report stated that the production of the bigger tablet was slated to begin this quarter, however, as sources claim, the production has been stalled.

A new tablet is part of Apple CEO Tim Cook's effort to revive the iPad product line which has seen decline from the last four quarters. The slumping sales could also be attributed to Apple's own line of larger iPhones.

The Cupertino, California-based company currently sells iPad with a 9.7-inch display and the iPad mini, which has a 7.9-inch screen. However, the company hasn't made public its plans for a bigger iPad.

According to the company's suppliers list, existing providers of displays include Sharp, Japan Display and LG Display.
