The film is scheduled to be released in theatres on April 10, 2025. Further details about the cast and crew will be announced soon.

Malayalam actor-filmmaker Geetu Mohandas announced her collaboration with Rocking Star Yash on December 8, officially declaring, “Yash, you are the wind beneath my wings; let’s create some magic.” This revelation sparked mixed reactions from netizens, with some expressing concerns about Geetu’s cinematic approach and the box office performance of her previous film, Moothon. In interviews, Geetu Mohandas discussed making changes to her scripts while filming, raising worries about its potential impact on Yash’s upcoming movie.

Their joint venture is titled Toxic and is billed as a gangster action drama scheduled for release in theatres on April 10, 2025. Although further details about the cast and crew are yet to be revealed, expectations and excitement are already building around the collaboration between Yash and Geetu. Notably, this isn’t Yash’s first project with a female director, having worked on Jambada Hudugi, directed by Priya Hassan, and the political satire Kallara Santhe, helmed by Sumana Kittur based on a script by Agni Sridhar.

In 2011, Yash collaborated with Sowmya Sathyan on the film Rajadhani. With over a decade since their last collaboration, there is significant anticipation for this upcoming project. Produced by Venkat K Narayana under KVN Productions, the leading lady for Yash19 is yet to be officially announced. However, speculations are circulating, with Sai Pallavi’s name gaining prominence. Film critic and trade analyst Rohit Jaiswal further fueled the excitement by suggesting Pallavi as the potential female lead for the movie.

In a recently released video, the first look of the film was revealed, featuring a pot belly, a retro hat, and a machine gun in hand. With a cigar in his mouth and the gun casually resting on his shoulder, the title “Toxic” is unveiled. The film’s tagline reads, “A fairytale for grown-ups.”

Speculations suggest that Geetu Mohandas and Yash are likely to portray a narrative centred around Goa’s drug mafia during the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Notably, action sequences for the film are expected to be handled by JJ Perry and Sam Hargrave, known for their work in Extraction.

Geetu Mohandas, acclaimed for her films Liar’s Dice and Moothon, which garnered international recognition, is set to direct Toxic. She is the wife of renowned cinematographer Rajiv Ravi, and the production will be overseen by Venkat K Narayana under the banner of KVN Productions.
