South actor Prithviraj Sukumaran is known for his versatile performances in films. Recently, his look from his upcoming film The Goat Life (titled Aadujeevitham in Malayalam) went viral. His drastic physical transformation in the film shocked fans. In a recent interview, Prithviraj Sukumaran shared how this physical transformation took a toll on his body. He revealed that he was fasting for 72 hours at a stretch. Prithviraj Sukumaran had to go through this process twice, as the film’s shoot was stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the interview, Prithviraj said that he literally starved himself to get this look; according to him, that was the only way to get this look. “The idea was that I looked like somebody who does not have access to enough food, and was starving most of the time. The only way I could do that is to actually adopt that process, which means that my transformation was almost entirely based on fasting. At times, I used to fast for up to 72 hours. I would drink water and black coffee, but nothing else,” he said.
Prithviraj Sukumaran shared that this was beyond a physical change, it is even challenging mentally as well. He said that humans are equipped to do two to three days of fasting. So, when we wake up the second day, our mind is telling us to eat. That is what, he mentioned, is when the real challenge kicks in. “The idea was to lose as much weight as I can but I think I shocked myself by losing 31 kgs,” he added.
The first look poster of The Goat Life was released in January this year. In the poster, Prithviraj Sukumaran was seen dressed as a shepherd. South superstar Prabhas unveiled the poster on social media with the caption, “Thrilled to unveil the official first-look poster of Prithviraj Sir’s #TheGoatLife – a journey of the indomitable human spirit.” The caption also read, “The tale of hope & survival waiting to be told! Experience the ultimate adventure on 10.04.2024”. Several social media users have commented on the video. One user wrote, “Extraordinary”. Another user added, “Woah!!! That’s some serious GOAT!”. One user also commented, “Next Oscar Level Film”.
