The film’s producers Ramana and Muralidhar emphasised their commitment to organise a grand pre-release event.

S Shankar-directed Tamil film Kaadhalan (dubbed as Premikudu in Telugu) is all set to be re-released in the cinemas after more than three decades of its release (1994). At a press meeting announcing the upcoming re-release, the esteemed guests including Telugu Film Producers Council Secretary Prasanna Kumar and Treasurer Ram Satyanarayana expressed their enthusiasm regarding Premikudu. Reflecting on the film’s enduring appeal, producers Ramana and Muralidhar emphasised their commitment to organise a grand pre-release event, with plans to invite Prabhu Deva as well. Prabhu Deva had essayed the male lead in the film, along with the actress Nagma who played the female lead. With hopes high for a successful re-release of Premikudu, the team expects a similar box office success.

Director Muppalaneni Siva remembered the film’s profound impact and anticipated its resurgence with today’s audiences. Muppalaneni Siva said on this occasion, “Premikudu, which was released 30 years ago, is now being re-released. I am very happy.” He added that this film had created a sensation as a good love story and he is also waiting for this movie, along with everyone.

Telugu Film Producers Council Secretary, Prasanna Kumar, also expressed his views. He said that Premikudu will emerge as a commercial success upon its re-release. He said that the late singer SP Balasubrahmanyam’s acting prowess is amazing. According to Prasanna Kumar, Prabhu Deva’s acting and dancing prowess and Nagma’s charm are the highlights of this film. As per the secretary, his sister Sudharani also wished Premikudu should be a blockbuster.

For those who have not watched Kaadhalan, it starred a talented cast of Vadivelu, Raghuvaran, Girish Karnad, Allu Ramalingaiah, and others. This film was a major commercial success at the box office, but received criticism for its storyline and Prabhu Deva’s acting performance, which was overshadowed by his acting.

Kaadhalan is remembered by many for the hit song Urvashi Urvashi in the Hindi version of the film titled Hum Se Hai Muqabala. A R Rahman, Noel James and Shankar Mahadevan rendered their vocals for the track. P K Misra penned the lyrics of this song, composed by A R Rahman.

ARS Films International and Sri Surya Films have produced Kaadhalan.
