Puneeth Rajkumar-starrer Jackie has been re-released in theatres today, on15 March. Written and directed by Duniya Soori, the film also stars Bhavana Menon, Shobhraj, Rangayana Raghu, Ravi Kale, Satyajith, and Raju Talikote among others in pivotal roles. The re-release of the film unfolded at the Magadi Road theatres, just two days before Puneeth Rajkumar’s birth anniversary on March 17. Fans are extremely happy with this. The film will be released in more than 90 screens across Karnataka. Tickets for the first shows in Bangalore are sold out. Jackie made its debut in cinema halls in 2010 and garnered an impressive box office collection. The film marked the first collaboration between Puneeth Rajkumar and director Duniya Soori.

KRG Studios, known for producing films such as Pailwaan, Dia and Daredevil Mustafa, is reportedly joining forces with PRK Studios to re-release the film. Touted to be a romantic action drama, the film revolves around Jackie who faces challenges when he is suspected of helping a priest’s daughter to escape with her lover.

With music scored by V Harikrishna and lyrics by Yograj Bhat, the cinematography of the film is handled by Satya Hegde. The film has chart-topping songs including Shiva Antha Hogutidde and Ekka Raja Rani. Puneeth Rajkumar’s exceptional portrayal in Jackie established his standing within the film industry. The movie clinched the Best Film award at the South Filmfare Awards in 2010. With a production budget of Rs 7.5 crore, Jackie amassed an impressive box office collection of approximately Rs 30 crore.

Puneeth Rajkumar still boasts a strong fan base, owing to his acting prowess and humble persona. Over his career span, he has acted in nearly 60 films including Appu, Yuvarathnaa, and Raajakumara. Notably, his performances in Raajakumara earned him the prestigious Karnataka Ratna Award, while his portrayal in Rana Vikrama garnered him the coveted Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

The actor was last seen in the film Lucky Man. It was directed by Nagendra Prasad. Some of his other films include Mayabazar 2016, Rajaratha, Anjaniputra, Power, and Ninnindale. He passed away at 46 due to severe heart attack while working out.
