Mitchell Marsh’s brilliant unbeaten 177-run knock helped Australia pick up the win and the 32-year-old all-rounder was presented with the man-of-the-match trophy for his blistering knock.

Australia take a seven-match winning streak into their semifinal encounter against South Africa and Mash said that they were pleased with the momentum they take into the knockout game.

“It feels great, obviously to finish off the league games with another win was great for the boys. I think we’re peaking well at the moment and looking forward to the semi-finals in Kolkata,” he said.

Marsh’s performance with the ball on the day was not upto the mark as he leaked 48 runs in 4 overs without claiming any wickets. But set things right with his incredible knock.

“It’s rare that you win the Man of the Match award after going for nearly fifty from 4 overs, but I would want to contribute more to the team,” Marsh added.

Marsh came out to bat at No.3 for the Aussies on the day after opener Travis Head fell cheaply after having scored just 10 runs, with Australia at 12/1 before the end of the third over.

However, Marsh steadied the ship alongside David Warner, who notched up a half-century, to help the men from down under hold on to their winning streak.

“It was important for me to back myself at 3, knowing when Head comes back, I’ll have to go down to 3. Have failed a few times, but have backed myself to perform,” Marsh explained.

Marsh gave a shoutout to his family and mentioned that the innings and the win was special for everyone back in the household, who had supported him testing times.

“Sure my mum and dad would be watching back home and they would be happy with this, my grandpop was a great man and I’m sure he’d be happy out there,” he concluded.
