Ravindra Jadeja was given the best Indian fielder by India's fielding coach T Dilip after his acrobatic catch to dismiss Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim

Ravindra Jadeja never fails to be the ultimate entertainer in world cricket. Whether it be with the ball or the bat, the spirited all-rounder always finds a way to make his mark on the game and ensure that those in attendance get their money’s worth.

That is exactly what Jadeja ensured yet again yesterday, as he took a stunner of a catch from point to dismiss veteran Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim in the first innings of India’s clash against Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup.

It was the 43rd over of the innings when Rahim tried to guide the ball at point towards the boundary. What seemed like a sureshot four was anything but as Jadeja flew with an acrobatic attempt to grab a sensational catch out of thin air.

As a part of his celebrations, the flamboyant all-rounder, in his signature cheeky fashion, celebrated the catch with a special gesture referring to the best fielder’s medal.

And to their surprise, that is exactly what he ended up receiving at the end of the day, as India’s fielding coach T Dilip came into the locker room after the end of the match to congratulate and award the honours to Jadeja.

This was a tradition that was started by Dilip himself in an effort to recognize and appreciate the work being put in to being reliable hands on the field.

So far in the tournament, the winners were announced on the television sets inside the dressing room. But Dilip, on Thursday, went a notch higher as the best fielder was announced on the giant screen on the ground, to which the whole Indian team were taken aback.

In the first match against Australia, Virat Kohli received the medal for his brilliant catch at slip, while Shardul got one for his second match. Wicketkeeper KL Rahul was awarded for his work behind the stumps in the match against Pakistan.

Meanwhile, bowling in tandem, spinners Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav helped India fight back and restrict Bangladesh to 256/8 in 50 overs, and the Indian batting order, lead by the talisman Virat Kohli, chased it down with ease to make it four out of four wins for India in this edition of the World Cup.
