Shailendra Kumar has been driving an auto rickshaw in the capital city of Patna for the past 27 years. Shailendra has always remained politically active and witnessed the rule of Congress CM Jagannath Mishra and tenure of Lalu and Rabri as well. He, however, feels that the past 10 years rule of Nitish Kumar regime has been exceptional.
He also added that no other government has worked as much as Nitish has done for the state in last 10 years. Shailendra belongs to Hilsa constituency in Nalanda district. He said he will visit his native place on October 28 to cast his vote.
When asked on the candidate he will vote for, his response was expected. "Certainly, Nitish Kumar. I don't know about other candidates. I will press the Arrow button (JDU's election symbol) or the Lantern (Election symbol of RJD)", he said.
Claiming to be Nitish's biggest fan, he carries his poster on his auto. During a 40 minutes ride from Nasirganj to Dak Bungalow, Shailendra spoke his heart out revealing his support to Nitish Kumar.
Excerpts of what Shailendra feels about the Bihar Elections in his own words
I don’t see any contest in these elections. When Nitish Kumar is there, hardly think much. The ones who had a single floor, own two floors now.
The downtrodden are living peacefully and earning well for their respective families. This road, for example, which no auto driver wanted to ply on even for Rs. 200, has turned into a smooth ride for them.
During Lalu’s tenure, we had to pay Rs 80 as extortion money out of Rs 100 earned. But, since Nitish Kumar came to power, nobody extorts money.
This is evident during our ride as no one has asked for any donations en route our journey.
As far as Lalu is concerned, he cannot do anything. Lalu himself has conceded the fact that Nitish will be the next CM. When steering will be in hands of Nitish Kumar then there is nothing Lalu can do.
Modiji came here and urged for change. Last year, the country voted for him but to no avail. He has done nothing in the last sixteen months. The rising prices of pulses has also hit the common man.
Modi's abroad visits doesn't count for anything if he overlooks the country's problems. He had promised to give Rs. 15 lakh each to every individual but has failed to deliver on his poll promises.
Modi is an honest man and he definitely deserves more time. His foreign visits has generated a lot of applause worldwide.
I never thought that my kids will get education but it was Nitish who helped me in realising this dream.
Lalu supporters will always rake up caste issue but Nitish backers will always bank on the development agenda.
