New Delhi: Despite failure a pre-poll alliance between them, Samajwadi Party on Thursday affirmed its support to Congress to keep BSP and BJP at bay.
"As long as I am not shown the doors by Soniaji, I am not going to leave her," SP General-Secretary Amar Singh told CNN-IBN.
He said Samajwadi Party has no problem with Congress if it wants to expand its base in Uttar Pradesh.
"I have no problem if Congress grows in the state as containing BSP and BJP is our main objective," he said in reply to a question if he would support UPA after the Lok Sabha elections.
He refuted allegations of engaging in a battle with second-rung leaders of Congress on seat-sharing with that party in the state.
He said Congress had stressed on fielding its senior leaders in at least 10 seats, which Samajwadi Party had opposed.
"I cannot behead 10 sitting MPs of ours to accommodate senior leaders of Congress," Singh said adding "I cannot liquidate the entity of my party."
