New Delhi: Ticketgate troubles for the Congress may not be buried just yet. On Thursday, the party sacked senior leader Yogendra Makhwana from the Scheduled Castes Department of the All India Congress Committee on the charge of publicly criticising the policies and functioning of the party.
Makwana had echoed sacked Congress leader Margaret Alva's allegations that elections tickets were being sold ahead of the Karnataka elections.
Sonia loyalist, Alva, was removed as general secretary of the party after a disciplinary committee hearing.
An official statement from the party said: "Makwana has been publicly criticising the policies and functioning of the party for a long time, which amounts to gross indiscipline."
"The party has taken a serious view of his conduct and consequently, the Congress president has relieved him of the chairmanship of the SC department with immediate effect," the statement said.
Makwana had alleged that Rajasthan's Alwar seat had been sold for Rs 2.5 cr. He'd alleged that the ticket for the Baran-Atru seat too had been sold.
He also alleged there was no internal democracy in the Congress and that Rahul Gandhi's talk of democracy and giving opportunity is just that.
“Whatever Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi say, the reality is they want no real leaders for SCs. They just want puppets,” he said.
