Bangalore: Stating that there is no shortage of medicines in the state-run hospitals, Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday informed the Karnataka Assembly that the government had earmarked Rs 75.78 crore for the purchase of medicines to meet the requirements of patients.
Replying to a question raised by UT Khader of the Congress (I), the CM said the state government had released Rs 25.45 crore worth medicines to various hospitals, including PHCs, community health centres and district hospitals.
Apart from this, medicines worth over Rs 11.80 crore had been released to the Health Department, he said.
Informing that there was no dearth of funds to meet the requirements of medicines, the CM said apart from state grants, there were provisions at the hospital level to purchase medicines utilising user funds maintained by them.
The chief minister also informed that the state had earmarked supply of medicines worth over Rs 1 lakh to each PHC, Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh worth of medicines to community health centres.
