Our Anti-Corruption Steps Forced Enemies to Join Hands: Modi Addresses BJD’s Odisha With Eye on 2019

Cuttack: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday landed up at Odisha’s Cuttack to take his celebrations of the fourth year in office to Navin Patnaik’s home turf. Modi launched a scathing attack on both the Odisha government as well as opposition parties and said that fearing the BJP government’s anti-corruption drives, all enemies in the opposition have now come together.

Addressing a massive gathering in Cuttack, Modi said, “Today, the country has moved from ‘kala dhan’ (black money) to ‘jan dhan’ (people’s wealth). We are moving from anarchy towards governance.”

He added, “Our government is running because of ‘janmat’ (people’s choice) and not through Janpath.”

“We are not afraid of taking tough decisions such as the surgical strike. This is a government which believes in commitment and not confusion,” said Modi.

Taking on ruling Biju Janta Dal and the Patnaik government, Modi said, “There is a lack of proper health facilities in several places and the situation is worse here in Odisha. I wonder what the state government has been doing all this while.”

"Due to the Mahanadi water dispute, farmers of Odisha are suffering. We are committed to resolve their problems and address the challenges they have to face," said Modi as the crowd burst into a loud round of applause.

Modi’s BJP had failed to make any inroads into the BJP bastion in the 2014 elections while the party is clearly hoping to change that status in the 2019 elections.
