Patna: In a combative mode, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar used senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arun Shourie's comment to hit out at Central government and dared BJP to ditch or condemn RSS over its controversial statement on reservation.
"Arun Shourie is a very serious man. His comments reflect what is happening now so his comments are improtant and reflective.
Shourie on Monday contended that it believes that managing economy means "managing the headlines" and that people had started recalling the days of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"Doctor Singh (Manmohan Singh) ko log yaad karne lag gaye hain (People have started recalling the days of Manmohan Singh). The way to charaterise policies of the government is -- Congress plus a cow. Policies are the same," Shourie said.
Speaking about the reservation issue, Nitish said, "If Mohan Bhagwat had not spoken about reservation then this discussion would not have started. If they come to power in Rajya Sabha they will make changes in the Constitution."
In a sharp attack, BJP's key ally in Bihar Ram Vilas Paswan hit out at the Grand Alliance blaming it for the backwardness of Bihar.
"NDA has only one agenda and that is development.The Grand Alliance is now scared of us so they are trying to dilute the issue of development.They are trying to raise other issues like cow slaughter, reservations to deviate from development," Paswan said.
Sidelined HAM supremo Jitan Ram Manjhi on the other hand said he has no ambitions of being the Chief Minister of the state. "I am not the CM candidate. Backward castes are being pushed around by secular forces," he said.
