Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Vijay Shah on Monday said that students in government schools will respond to attendance call with 'Jai Hind' to instill a sense of nationalism among them. The minister said an advisory to this effect will be issued soon.
"Whenever people of armed forces meet, they greet each other with Jai Hind and we all feel a sense of nationalism, so I thought about implementing this in schools," said Vijay Shah.
Shah's cabinet colleague and the Minister for Higher Education Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya had earlier proposed the idea of abolishing words, like, 'Yes, Sir' and 'Good Morning' from schools and replacing them with Jai Hind.
Shah made it clear that he sees nothing wrong in students responding to roll call with Jai Hind. He said some of the schools are already practising it after he got this implemented in schools in Satna in September.
As far as the private schools were concerned, Shah said, any order can't be issued for them, but an advisory would be released making them aware about the state government’s intentions.
The minister made headlines recently by making it mandatory for Madrasas to unfurl national flag and recite national anthem.
However, wary of the controversy his earlier order on Madrasas created, Shah, responding to queries on whether the new order would be imposed on Madrasas, treaded cautiously.
"We are still debating whether to issue an advisory or an order to Madrasas in this regard," said the minister.
The minister said that the government had contacted some of the Madrasas who receive government aid for implementing this and many among them agreed.
Shah also made it clear that the order was not religion specific.
