Deoria: An FIR has been lodged against two persons, including a Congress candidate, for violation of model code of conduct in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, officials said in Deoria on Friday.
A case has been lodged against Congress candidate for Sadar seat, Jai Prakash Jasiwal, and one more person after it was found that they organised a community feast in a dalit locality at Singahi village on Wednesday night, SDM Ajay Kant Saini said.
He said the feast was organised at a temple where flag and poster of the party were also used which was in violation of the model code of conduct. However, the Congress candidate alleged that action was taken by the district administration under pressure from the Bahujan Samajwadi Party government.
