Departmental action was initiated against a senior officer of Uttar Pradesh police for alleged breach of professional conduct after he shot a music video in uniform without the permission of authorities.

Ajay Chahar, Station House Officer at Noida’s Sector 126 police, came under scanner soon after his music video went viral on social media.

Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh has sent the officer to police lines and ordered a departmental inquiry against him.

In the video that landed Chahar in trouble, he can be seen working and taking calls on a desk in full police uniform, while Haryanvi lyrics about the solidarity within the Jat community play in the background.

In the video, a few young men can be seen singing and posing before cars. A man in a police uniform approaches them and tells them something, after which, one of them makes a call to Chahar.

Chahar can be then seen getting inside a car, which carries a caste name. In the next scene, he can be seen asking the man in the police uniform to leave.

The video ends with Chahar walking with the young men.

“The rules and guidelines prohibit police officers from deliberately appearing in such videos in their uniform. They are not allowed to get involved in such activities without formal permissions,’ said Anand Kulkarni, additional commissioner of police (law and order), according to a report by Times of India.
