Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis does not appear to be taking lightly the Congress party's allegations regarding the Slum Development Authority's instructions to developers to open accounts in Axis Bank.
After the Chief Minister sent a defamation notice to Maharashtra Congress chief Manikrao Thakre, he has now sent another notice to Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh.
This comes even as Digvijaya Singh alleged that the Maharashtra Slum Development Authority asked developers to open accounts in Worli Branch of the Axis bank because the Chief Minister's wife is an officer in the Bank.
The Congress general secretary had tweeted, "SRA in Mumbai headed by CM of Maharashtra has officially asked all SRA developers to open accounts only in Worli branch of Axis Bank."

"Do you know why? Mrs Fadnavis is the Vice President of Axis Bank ! A windfall for the Axis Bank a private Bank. Height of Nepotism," he added.

The Maharashtra government had, however, clarified saying it was the Congress-NCP government which had given permission to appoint any of three banks from AXIS, ICICI and HDFC.
