Somnath Chatterjee is all set to preside over the crucial trust vote on Tuesday.

New Delhi: A crucial meeting of the CPM Central Committee will be held later on Saturday morning.

Somnath Chatterjee seems to be all set to preside over the crucial trust vote on Tuesday. And while his party has publicly maintained that Mr Chatterjee will take his own decision, his defiance will be debated at the CPM's two day Central Committee meeting.

Some like Kerala MP Varkala Radhakrishnan have openly demanded that he quit and there are also those like West Bengal minister Subhash Chakraborty who backed his continuance.

However, indications that the CPM is unlikely to take a tough stand against Somnath came from West Bengal, when no action was taken against Subhash chakraorty who dared to speak his mind.

"Subhas has himself acknowledged that he shouldn't have spoken his views in public. He accepted that he should have voiced his opinions inside the party. If someone acknowledged a mistake, what more remains to be done?” asks Secretary, CPI-M, West Bengal, Biman Bose.

It seems that the CPM clearly doesn’t want to open another front, just hours ahead of the trust vote.

And while there have been concerns expressed by some quarters especially from West Bengal on voting alongside the BJP, the party is expected to ratify the decision taken by the top bosses.

A whip has already been issued asking all MP's to be present and vote against the motion.
