It's a tradition in the Congress to give cash bonuses after electoral wins.

New Delhi: Even as economic slowdown grips India, the permanent staff at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi have reason to cheer.

They are getting a month's salary as bonus for winning the Delhi and Rajasthan Assembly elections.

But the bonus is not as unexpected as the wins that came last month.

It's a kind of tradition in the Congress to give cash bonuses after electoral wins.

In 2004, when the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) came to power, three-month ' salary was given as bonus.

There are about 200 permanent staff at the Congress headquarters.
