Trinamool Congress, which has a lone member in outgoing Manipur assembly, plans to contest in 48 of the 60 seats in the state.

New Delhi: Congress reckons that Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee could create a few problems for the party in assembly poll-bound Goa and Manipur.

A senior Congress leader, who declined to be identified, said the party apprehends "some problems" from Trinamool in the two states but not at all in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The leader said the problem for Congress with NCP is only in Manipur where Sharad Pawar's party is part of the opposition alliance. In Goa, where Congress and NCP are shaing power, talks over seat sharing are at an advanced stage.

Trinamool Congress, which has a lone member in outgoing Manipur assembly, plans to contest in 48 of the 60 seats in the state.

Mamata's party will put up its candidates in all the 40 seats in Goa and is also contesting some seats in the 70-member Uttarakhand Assembly. It also plans to put up 100-odd nominees for the 403-member UP Assembly.

Mamata is addressing a meeting at Imphal on Wednesday and party leaders are confident that Trinamool will do well in the polls. It has taken a stand against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

In Uttar Pradesh, Trinamool Congress has started seat- sharing talks with Janata Dal (United), an ally of BJP at the national level and in Bihar.
