Mangani fest: Local holiday Thursday

KARAIKAL: District Collector Franklin Laltinkhuma has declared a local holiday on Thursday in connection with the annual Maangani festival. As per tradition, devotees will throw mangoes on the idol of Lord Shiva (in Pichandavar incarnation) which would be taken out on procession as part of the festival at Arulmigu Karaikal Ammaiyar temple here on Thursday. It will be a working day on July 23 (Saturday) in lieu of the holiday.
