'They Didn't Compete..': Dinesh Karthik Offers Pakistan Honest Advice After Hammering Defeat vs India
Dinesh Karthik advised Babar Azam led Pakistan players to stay away from their phones and try to avoid back to back defeats in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023

Former Indian wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik offered a piece of honest advice to Babar Azam-led Pakistan after their crushing defeat to India in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The two arch-rivals met at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday, October 14 but it turned out to be a lopsided contest after Indian bowlers restricted the Green Army to a below-par total of 191. Captain Rohit Sharma narrowly missed a century as his 86-run knock helped set the platform in the chase, with Shreyas Iyer’s fifty helping the Indian team to a comfortable 7-wicket win.

Naturally, the defeat to India is a hard pill to swallow, but the manner in which Pakistan were dominated during their defeat to the Men in Blue has resulted in some harsh comments from former PAK legends for the current crop.

Karthik meanwhile came up with a piece of advice for Babar and Co. saying that they must look to stay away from their phones for a few days as there might be a lot of criticism on social media.

The veteran also said that while Pakistan couldn’t ‘compete’ with India on the day, they did win their previous two games and the Men in Green need to stay calm to avoid further upsets in the tournament with still a long way to go.

“It’s going to be hard two three days. I can promise you that they walk through airports like just what, Morgs said. There’ll be a lot of notifications coming in and most of it negative at this point of time. Ideally, if I was there, I wouldn’t look at the phone for a couple of days. That’s a start,” said Karthik on Sky Sports.

“Now, how do you deal with a loss like this? Because psychologically it is a bit of a blow. It’s one thing to compete and lose. Like when they lost against India in Melbourne in T20 a year ago, that is acceptable. They fought right to the end, India with a better team and they just picked them at the post. But today they didn’t compete,” the wicketkeeper batter turned commentator added.

The 38-year-old stated that it’s completely okay for Pakistan to lose to a top-ranked Indian team but they should look to avoid losing two games on the bounce.

“They already have two wins and it is okay among the top-ranked teams to lose one. What you don’t want to be doing is lose two on the bounce or get upset by one of the smaller teams. That will put a lot of people into your dreams, especially when it comes to the top four,” said DK.

Babar Azam and Co. will next return to action on Friday as they take on Australia in Bengaluru, looking to get their World Cup campaign back on track.
